Pray for Muslims
MISSION FOCUS 1105
PRAY FOR MUSLIMS DURING THIS TIME OF THEIR PILGRIMAGE TO MECCA.
All Muslims who can afford it or are physically able will go on Hajj (Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca Saudi Arabia) at least once in their lifetime.
This year the Hajj is taking place between August the 9-14. It is considered the largest “human world’s gathering” and it is estimated that over 2.4 million pilgrims will be attending Hajj this year. During the Hajj the Muslims will walk and pray around the Kaaba seven times. The Kaaba is a large black, box shaped building at the center of the most important mosque in Islam, named Masjid Al-Haram (Holy Mosque). . Muslims believe the Kaaba was originally built by Abraham and Ishmael & was confirmed holy by Muhammad. An important part of Hajj is when the pilgrims go to Mount Arafat located in the village of Mina (about 3 miles from Mecca). The Mount is marked by a white pillar which is said to be where their “Prophet Mohammed” was believed to have delivered his last sermon some 1,400 years ago, calling on Muslims to unite. Close by this location stands three pillars representing the devil where the ritual of stoning the devil takes place by each pilgrim. Pray they will come to know that all rituals of the Hajj are pointless and seek to find the truth in GOD’s WORD. Read the rest of this entry

A conversation with the Muslim about eternal joy.
by Joshua Arnold
Muslim: Allah is the one true god, and only he can bless a man with eternal joy in Heaven.
Christian: So you must believe that allah has had infinite joy from eternity past, right?
On December 6 President Trump announced that the United States embassy in Israel would be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Since Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, this seems like a reasonable step to take, yet this decision has been met with protests all over the world. The United Nations voted 128 to 9 to condemn it. The Palestinians have objected and threatened violence because they consider Jerusalem to be their capital.
Israel is unique among the nations of the world. It began when God told Abraham to go to another land and promised to make a great nation of his descendants.
Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3)
Abraham had two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. The descendants of Isaac became the nation of Israel and fulfilled God’s promise to make Abraham a great nation. Jerusalem became the capital of Israel. God’s temple was there and it was where Jesus was crucified, fulfilling the promise that all families of the earth would be blessed in Abraham. Read the rest of this entry
When police interrogate a suspect they sometimes use a technique called “good cop,bad cop.” The “bad” cop questions the suspect harshly and accused him of being guilty and refusing to cooperate. Then the “good” cop takes his turn with the suspect, showing him sympathy and sometimes even agreeing with him that the bad cop is unfair. This creates a bond of sympathy between the suspect and the good cop and can even lead to the suspect giving him the information he is after. Read the rest of this entry
Some of you may have read a book called God’s Smuggler, by Brother Andrew. In it the author described his work of helping persecuted Christians in Communist countries by smuggling Bibles into their countries. The book was published in 1967 but Brother Andrew is still very much involved in helping persecuted Christians. He has founded an organization called Open Doors for the purpose of carrying on the work he began.
Here is how Brother Andrew’s work began.
Naaman was a Syrian general who was also a leper. He came to Elisha for help.
So Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of Elisha’s house. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean.”
2 Kings 5:9-10
He followed Elisha’s instructions and became clean. This convinced him that the God of Elisha was the true God.
Then he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and he came and stood before him. And he said, “Behold, I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel; so accept now a present from your servant.”
But he said, “As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none.”
And he urged him to take it, but he refused. Then Naaman said, “If not, please let there be given to your servant two mule loads of earth, for from now on your servant will not offer burnt offering or sacrifice to any god but the LORD.”
2 Kings 5:15-17
He came to Elisha for physical cleansing but he received spiritual cleansing as well.
Moses was a descendant of Abraham. He gave the world the Torah, which he said was based on revelations given to him by God. Judaism is based on the teachings contained in this book.
Muhammad was a descendant of Abraham. He gave the world the Koran, which he said was based on revelations given to him by God. Islam is based on the teachings contained in this book.
The similarities between these two aren’t just a coincidence.
There is a war going on between God and Satan. When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a soldier in God’s army and a participant in that war. In order to wage war effectively we must know who our enemy is.
When we look at what is going on in the world we see many who are doing and advocating things that violate God’s commands. Some believe that women should have the absolute right to kill their unborn children. Others believe there is nothing wrong with homosexual activity and that the government should allow marriages between two people of the same sex. Militant Muslims use force to impose their beliefs on others.
These people are not the ones we are fighting.
Identity theft is a major problem and all of us must take precautions to protect ourselves from it. It is not a new problem; Christians have been victims of it in the past. In fact we have had more that one identity stolen from us.
The Bible prophesies a restoration of the Roman Empire just before Christ’s return and many Bible teachers think that the European Union is the fulfillment of that prophecy.
When the EU was formed this belief seemed reasonable. The founding members were Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and West Germany and these countries are all in territory that was once part of the Roman Empire. But since membership has grown and it now includes nations such as Sweden, Finland, and Poland that were never part of the empire.
Chapters 38 and 39 of Ezekiel describe an invasion of Israel which is stopped by divine intervention. There is disagreement among Bible students about when this invasion will take place. Some think it is a description of the final battle at Armageddon; some think it will take place earlier, perhaps before the beginning of the tribulation. In the Left Behind series it takes place even before the rapture of the church.
