Story time for the Christians-
Today I was at the nail salon getting this shellack removed. I tried to do it on my own, but I’m not skilled enough apparently. Anyway, I’m there listening to “Practical Religion” by Ryle and not talking to anyone and realize what a hypocrite I am. I’m filling my head and heart with scripture and beautiful truths of the faith literally surrounded by a group of people that are most likely Buddhists and are without hope unless they come to know Him. So, I press ‘pause’ on my earbuds and begin to think about how to begin a conversation about the Lord. Read the rest of this entry
I have spent a lot of time on internet forums debating atheists and trying to convince them that God exists and the Bible is true. I usually tried to show them that the existence of God is the only logical explanation for the existence of the universe and I pointed out scientific evidence that shows that the theory of evolution can’t be true. However I have come to believe that I was going about this in the wrong way. This conclusion is based on hearing two former atheists tell how they became Christians.
The first is someone I know personally. He had a long conversation with a pastor which ended with the pastor explaining to him how to be saved. He said he was an atheist and didn’t believe in God, and that ended the conversation.
Over the next few days thoughts about God kept entering his mind and he came to the conclusion that there really was a God. Since the pastor had told him how to become a Christian he knew what he needed to do and so was saved. Read the rest of this entry
Every year large numbers of people come to the United States looking for jobs. Because of laws restricting immigration most of these job seekers aren’t able to enter the country legally but their need is so great they come here anyway. As a result there are millions of illegal immigrants in this country and one of the major problems facing the government is what to do about them.
It is unlikely that any government leader will ever think of looking in the Bible for a solution to the problem. That is unfortunate because the Bible does have the solution.
While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him.
And he charged him to tell no one, but “go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, for a proof to them.”
Jesus told him to go to the priest because the Mosaic law required that an offering be made by anyone who had been cleansed from leprosy.
When Paul was on his final journey to Jerusalem he spent some time at the home of a man named Philip.
On the next day we departed and came to Caesarea, and we entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him.
We are told two things about him: he was an evangelist and he was one of the seven. Read the rest of this entry
Two brothers named Bob and Bill decided to get medical examinations. Neither was aware of any health problems; they simply wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with them. Read the rest of this entry
Jesus has commanded his followers to preach the gospel to the whole world so that everyone will have the opportunity to believe in him and be saved.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
But he also said in John 8:44,
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. Read the rest of this entry
