Paperwork Matters

See, there's this thing called biology...

First a bit of background, hubby was a roofer, self employed, ran a small business for a number of years. I kept us legal and stress free. That means documenting expenses, income, keeping receipts for tools and equipment, doing payroll, filing quarterlies, and paying taxes. There was also some licensing, some insurance, and some permits to maintain.

Easy, simple things. Anybody can learn how to do it. It’s a lot of minor details, a bit tedious, and it requires some discipline, a commitment to actually invest a few hours into getting it done, and not at the last minute, but as you go. That is what I mean by, “keeping yourself legal and stress free.” Staying on top of your books.

It is not fun to get notices from the government or to suddenly discover you owe a few grand you knew nothing about. That all just creates needless stress…
