Parallel Economy?

See, there's this thing called biology...

The concept of creating parallel economies has sprung up all over the place in response to lockdowns and people losing their jobs over irrational government mandates.

I think it’s a marvelous idea, the only issue being, what has taken us all so long?? I like capitalism very much, but the excessive consumerism of our society has been a bit of bummer for some time now. Like for decades.

I’ve been a big fan of “buy nothing days” and “made in America,” and ditching the cheap Chinese factory goods in favor of hand crafting and artisan goods. Also concepts like simple living and reducing waste, trading goods and services with your neighbors, barn raisings…..

It’s been a bit of struggle with my kids growing up who were just up against a wall, a cultural tsunami so massive I could hardly get a word in edgewise. They probably have at times thought…
