What spills out

Here is something I read on Facebook.

What spills out

by Joshua Agan

When you carry a coffee cup and someone bumps into you, why does coffee spill out?

Simple:
Because that’s what is in the cup.

This virus has not turned people into inconsiderate jerks, greedy hoarders, or careless idiots that harm people. That is what spills out now that the virus has bumped into their lives—because that is what is inside.

Likewise, those who are exuding patience, compassion, kindness, and true love were not suddenly convinced to do so because of a pandemic. That’s what spills out in such a tumultuous time because that’s what is inside.

You get to decide the person that you are. What everyone else sees is just the result of what’s already decided in your heart.

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good;
and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:
for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”
(Luke 6:45)

It is because of this clear fact that Solomon long before warned his son:

“Keep thy heart with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life.”
(Proverbs 4:23)

You keep the gates of your heart.
What is spilling out of your cup?
