Foundation for truth

Here is something I read on Facebook.

Foundation for truth

by Ann Brooks

What is your foundation for TRUTH? As a Believer my source and foundation for absolute truth is the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. With that stated the modern day church has been challenged to change our methods and our music. Many churches have made the decision to be progressive and move forward although with the vow they would never change their message. (The message the full Word of God.)

I was recently disturbed by an advertisement for a big conference coming to our city. The ad declared what was different about the early church was they didn’t have a Bible. They are right; there were no leather bound King James Versions in the first century. However, the early church had the writings of the Old Testament and the law, the Gospels were being penned along with Paul’s letters over the course of that first century along with persons who were eye witnesses of the Life, ministry, Death and Resurrection of Jesus. Now we are being challenged that what we have done for so long is no longer working so with that said, we are to take a pause and think of making a revision to be more effective!

Does changing our message, making revisions in our bases for truth define a church that is more relative to our culture? That is a church that walks away from moral absolutes to a philosophy of moral relativism. I quote a good friend who said, “Without a reformation revival the church always takes a left turn in increments.” Truth does not change, relativism changes with the culture. The culture has judged the church as non-effective, intolerant, unloving and the list is growing. However to conform to the culture is addressed by Paul in Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world.” Jesus said all truth is found in him and his teachings (John 14:6) and he also said that truth is found in the Word of God (John 17:17). In this presence day the Word of God is more important than ever. Hebrews 4:12 “ For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

My friends do not be deceived! Do not take a pause from the Word of God. It is food for your soul and ammo for your battles.

For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. (Exodus 20:11)
