We need a new reformation
On October 31 1517 Martin Luther nailed his famous 95 Theses to the door of a church in Wittenburg, Germany. He claimed that the Church had departed from accepting the Bible as its sole authority and that many of the doctrines it taught were based on human traditions and opinions. This was the beginning of the Protestant Reformation.
Today there is a new error that is causing many Christians to reject the Bible’s authority. Most people believe that the earth is millions of years old and that all life developed by a process of evolution. This belief is so pervasive that many Christians accept it and interpret the first 11 chapters of Genesis to accommodate it.
Many Christian leaders, including Ken Ham, the president of Answers in Genesis, believe that we need a new reformation in which we prove that evolution is false and accept the authority of all of the Bible, including the creation account.
I have been a Christian for 60 years and for the first 50 of those years a accepted the idea that the age of the earth had been proved to be millions of years. I interpreted the Bible in the “light” of this belief. In the last few years I have learned that the apparent signs of age are actually the result of a world wide flood. Here are some sites that will help you understand that scientific evidence actually supports the truth of the Bible.
Here are some posts I have made in this blog about the subject.
This year is the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. We are again facing the problem that Martin Luther faced. Many in the church accept beliefs that contradict the Bible. We should celebrate the anniversary by following Luther’s example and speaking out against these beliefs.
